How it works

## The register, without the register.

One sheet a day for each section. Here is a morning.

### In the classroom

- **Open your section,** on a phone or the staff-room computer. Everyone is already present.

- **Tap the exceptions.** Absent, late, excused or medical: A, L, E, M.

- **Save.** Save again later and the day is updated, never doubled.

- **See the gate.** Children scanned in at the gate show their arrival time on the sheet.

### Only your own classes

A teacher marks the sections they teach or class-teach, and no others. The office and the principal see every one.

### Holidays know themselves

A declared holiday on the [school calendar](https://scoolin.com/features/school-calendar) won’t take a sheet. One declared after marking keeps the marks but stops them counting.

### Leave is already in

Approved [leave](https://scoolin.com/features/leave-management) turns a child’s absent into excused or medical, without anyone editing the sheet.

### Periods

### Can we mark attendance period by period?

Not yet. Scoolin keeps one sheet a day for each section.

### Phones

### Is there an app to install?

No. Scoolin works in the browser, on a phone or a computer, so there is nothing to install.

### Missed days

### Can a teacher fill in a day they missed?

Yes, for any past school day, though not a future one. Children who joined later don’t appear on earlier days.

### Office

### Can the office see which sections are marked?

Yes. The Classes page shows today’s count for each section; open a sheet to see who marked it and when.
