Good to know

## Before you hand over a receipt

Short answers on what a fee receipt needs and how schools keep them.

### What a school fee receipt has on it

Parents keep receipts for years, for an income tax claim or a dispute over dues, so each one should stand on its own.

| The school | Name, address, phone, board or affiliation no., and the session |

| The receipt | Its own number, the date, and a parent and an office copy |

| The student | Name, class, admission no. and the father’s or guardian’s name |

| The fees | Each fee head with its amount, any late fine or concession, and the total |

| The payment | The amount received in figures and in words, how it was paid, and the balance still due |

| The sign | Signed by the accountant or the person at the counter |

### Why every receipt needs its own number

A number from one series lets the office match each receipt to the day’s collection and find a missing one at once. Never reuse a number; if a receipt is wrong, cancel it in the register and write a new one.

### Why the amount is written in words too

Figures are easy to change by hand; words are not. Writing “Rupees Three Thousand Seven Hundred Only” beside ₹3,700 means nobody can turn it into ₹8,700 later.

### Four checks before you hand it over

Each one saves a phone call later.

- The receipt number is the next one in your register

- The amount received matches the cash, UPI or cheque in hand

- For a cheque or UPI payment, the reference number is written

- Both copies are signed, and the office copy is filed

**Writing receipts at the counter every day?** In Scoolin, the fee counter finds the child, lists every unpaid month and prints the receipt from one numbered series, with the day’s total ready for the accountant.

FAQ

## About fee receipts.

**Something else?** Scoolin prints receipts from the fee counter. [See it on a call](https://scoolin.com/demo) .

### Does it add up the total and write it in words?

Yes. It adds the fee heads and any late fine, takes off a concession, and writes the amount received in words, like **Rupees Four Thousand Only**.

### What if the parent pays only part of the fee?

Type the amount received in step 3. The receipt shows it, with the balance still due in red. If the full fee is paid, it shows a **PAID** stamp instead.

### Can I print on our receipt printer?

Yes. Pick **80 mm receipt printer** in step 4. The receipt prints in one narrow column, in black and white, as long as it needs to be.

### Does it number the receipts for me?

No, type the number in step 3, from your receipt register, so the series stays yours. Scoolin numbers them by itself.

### Are the details uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything you type stays in this browser, on this computer; nothing is sent to Scoolin. Your school’s details are kept for the next receipt. **Start over** clears them.

### Is it really free?

Yes. No sign-up, no limit, and nothing of ours printed on the receipt.
