Leave requests

Approve once, the register follows. Absent becomes excused or medical without anyone editing the sheet.

How it works

Leave that fixes the register itself.

Here is a sick note, from the parent’s diary to the attendance sheet.

A child’s leave

  1. Log the request. The office or class teacher notes it for the family: sick, family or other.
  2. Approve it, or reject it with a reason. Each request is kept with who decided.
  3. The register corrects itself. Absent marks on those days turn medical or excused. Days ahead are filled in.
  4. Cancel if plans change. Only the marks the approval wrote go back.

It never invents a day

Approval changes the marks that exist and fills the days ahead. It never marks a day nobody took.

School days only

Leave is counted on the school calendar. A request across a holiday week counts only school days, and one with no school day in it is refused.

For staff too

Staff apply for themselves, and approved leave lines up substitute cover. See Staff leave.

Parents

Can parents apply from an app?

Not yet; parent logins are coming. Today the office or the class teacher logs the request.

Approving

Who approves a child’s leave?

A teacher of that section, the principal or an admin.

Overlaps

What if two requests cover the same days?

The second is refused, so a day is never on leave twice.

Register

How does approved leave show on the register?

As medical for sick leave and excused for the rest, on the daily sheet and in the month.
