Staff leave

Apply, approve, and the cover follows. One approval updates the register and lines up substitutes.

How it works

One approval, three jobs done.

A leave request touches the register and the timetable. Here is one, from the staff room to the substitute.

When a teacher needs leave

  1. Apply. Dates, kind of leave and a reason. Or the office logs a paper form.
  2. The principal decides. Approves it, or turns it down with a reason. Nobody approves their own.
  3. The register follows. Those days show as on leave. Cancel the leave and only those marks go back.
  4. Cover is lined up. The timetable lists their periods and suggests who is free to take them.

No clashes, no stretching

Overlapping requests are refused. Days are counted on the school calendar, so a Sunday or a holiday isn’t a day of leave.

Nothing waits a week

Requests waiting for a decision are in the principal’s morning email, and the person hears the answer in Scoolin.

Cover without the phone calls

Approved leave goes straight to substitute cover in the Timetable, with the teachers who already teach that class suggested first.
