Timetable

Bells, clash checks and substitute cover. The timetable runs the school day, not just the notice board.

How it works

A timetable that rings the bell.

Most timetables stop at the printout. This one rings the bell, knows a holiday, and finds cover. Here is a week going in.

Setting the week

  1. Set the bells. Named schedules like Senior, Primary and Saturday, with real times and breaks.
  2. Place the lessons. A teacher, room or class in two places at once is refused, to the minute.
  3. Publish from a date. January’s new timetable starts in January; December keeps the old one.
  4. Let it run. The bells ring from it, holidays go quiet, and absent teachers get cover.
Try it with your own classes

The school bell, from the timetable

Keep Scoolin open on the computer by the speakers. It rings every period with a warning bell before, and keeps two weeks of rings, so a short internet cut doesn’t stop it. Half days and exam days ring their own times.

Cover in two minutes

When a teacher is on leave, Scoolin lists their periods and suggests up to five free teachers, those who already teach that class first. The substitute is told, and the cover sheet prints.

Made for Indian timetables

Pooled sections and electives share a period, so Physics and Biology run side by side. A Saturday can follow Monday’s timetable.

Clashes

What counts as a clash?

Any overlap in real time: 8:00 to 8:35 against 8:00 to 8:45. A draft can hold clashes while you work, but it can’t be published.

Generating

Can Scoolin make the timetable for us?

Not yet. You place each lesson, and Scoolin checks every one as you go.

Printing

Can we print it for the notice board?

Yes. Any class’s, teacher’s or room’s week on A4, or the master grid.

Free

Can we try a timetable without signing up?

The free timetable maker on this site makes one class’s week on A4.
