    Good to know

    Before you issue a TC

Short answers on what a TC is, what it says, and admission without one.

    What is a transfer certificate?

The certificate a school gives a student who leaves it. The new school asks for it at admission, since it shows the student’s record at the old school: when they joined, the class they last studied in, whether they were promoted, and that no dues are left.

What a TC has on it

Most TCs in India ask the same things, in roughly this order.

The studentName, parents’ names, nationality, date of birth in figures and words
Their time hereDate of first admission, the last class, the last exam and its result, subjects
FeesDues paid up to which month, and any fee concession
Attendance and conductWorking days and days present, games and activities, general conduct
The certificateTC no., dates of application and issue, reason for leaving, signatures and seal

Can a child get admission without a TC?

Up to Class 8, a late TC can’t hold up admission. Section 5 of the Right to Education Act, 2009 says the head teacher of the old school must issue the TC at once, and that a delay in producing it is no ground to delay or refuse admission at the new school.

Four checks before you sign a TC

Each one saves a correction later.

    • Match the name and date of birth with the admission register
    • Check the fees are paid up to the last month
    • Write the TC no. in the school’s TC register
    • Sign it and put the school’s seal on it

    FAQ

    About TCs.

Something else?Scoolin fills certificates in from its records. See it on a call.

Which rows does the TC have?

The rows most Indian schools’ TCs carry: the student’s and parents’ names, the dates of admission and birth, the last class and exam, dues, attendance, conduct and the reason for leaving. If your board or state asks for a different set, turn rows off in step 3 with the On TC switches; the numbers follow the rows left on.

Does it write the date of birth in words?

Yes. Type the date as DD-MM-YYYY and the TC shows it in words too, like Twelfth March Two Thousand Fourteen. The class is written in words the same way.

Can I leave a row blank and fill it in by pen?

Yes. A row left empty prints with a blank line to write on.

Can I print on our own letterhead paper?

Yes. Pick the Letterhead paper design. It leaves the top of the page empty for the letterhead already printed on it. Print one page first to check it lines up.

Are the students’ details uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything you type stays in this browser, on this computer; nothing is sent to Scoolin. It is kept for the next time you open the page, and the TC, bonafide and character certificate pages share it. Start over clears it.

    Is it really free?

Yes. No sign-up, no limit on students, and nothing of ours printed on the certificate.
