    Before you sign it

Short answers on what a bonafide certificate is and how it differs from a character certificate.

    What is a bonafide certificate?

A letter from the school saying the student studies there now, in a given class and session. Students are asked for one to open a bank account, for scholarship forms, for a bus or rail pass, and for some exam forms.

    Bonafide or character certificate?

Both are letters signed by the principal, but they answer different questions.

    Before you sign it

A few checks, since a bank or a scholarship office reads every word.

    • The name spelt as in the admission register
    • This session’s class and section
    • The date of birth from the register
    • The signature and the school’s seal

Issuing certificates every week?In Scoolin, each student’s admission date, class, attendance and fees are already in their record, so a TC or a bonafide certificate fills itself in and prints in one click, with a register of every certificate issued.

    FAQ

    About bonafide certificates.

Something else?Scoolin fills certificates in from its records. See it on a call.

What do I write in “What it’s for”?

A few words that finish the sentence “This certificate is issued for the purpose of…”, like opening a bank account or a scholarship application. Left empty, it says the certificate is issued on request.

    Can I change the wording?

Not yet. The text is the usual wording for a bonafide certificate, filled in with the student’s details. If your school needs different words, tell us on the contact page.

Can I print on our own letterhead paper?

Yes. Pick the Letterhead paper design. It leaves the top of the page empty for the letterhead already printed on it. Print one page first to check it lines up.

Son, daughter or ward: where do I say which?

Pick one for each student in step 3, and the certificate says “son of” or “daughter of”, and “his” or “her”. Until you pick, it writes both, like “son/daughter of”, as printed forms do. A pasted list’s Gender column is read too: M or Male is a son, F or Female a daughter.

Are the students’ details uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything you type stays in this browser, on this computer; nothing is sent to Scoolin. It is kept for the next time you open the page, and the TC, bonafide and character certificate pages share it. Start over clears it.

    Is it really free?

Yes. No sign-up, no limit on students, and nothing of ours printed on the certificate.
