Principal’s signature

A clear photo of the signature on white paper works; the white doesn’t show on the card. Or leave it out and sign each card by hand.

3 Students

To add many photos at once, name each file by the student’s admission no. or name, like 2026-0412.jpg or Aarav Sharma.jpg.

    How it works

A whole class’s cards in four steps.

    1. 1 Pick a design

Six designs, upright or wide, in your school’s colour.

    2. 2 Add your school

Logo, name, address and the principal’s signature. Kept for next time.

    3. 3 Add the students

Type them in, or paste the list from Excel. Add photos one by one or a class at once.

    4. 4 Print

On A4 sheets to cut out or on a PVC card printer, or save a PDF for the print shop.

    Before you print the cards

Short answers on the size, what goes on the card, photos and printing.

What size is a student ID card?

The same as an ATM card: 85.6 × 54 mm. Every ID card holder, pouch and PVC card printer is made for this size, so keep to it whether the card is upright or wide.

What to put on a school ID card

The front is what the gate and the bus staff check at a glance. The back is for the day something goes wrong.

    Front

    • School name and logo, with the session
    • A clear photo of the student
    • Name and class, as in the school’s records
    • Admission no., blood group and a parent’s phone
    • The principal’s signature

    Back

    • The school’s address and phone, to return it
    • The home address, if your school prints it
    • A number to call in an emergency
    • A few rules, like wearing it every day

Leave off Aadhaar numbers and anything about fees. A lost card shouldn’t carry them.

ID card photos that print well

Any phone camera is enough. Stand the student facing a window, hold the phone at their eye level and leave the flash off.

    • A plain, light wall behind
    • Head and shoulders in the frame
    • Daylight on the face
    • A busy room behind
    • Taken from far away
    • A screenshot of a group photo

Print ID cards on A4 paper or PVC?

A4 is the cheapest way to start, on any office printer. PVC cards cost more but last the whole session.

    FAQ

    About ID cards.

Something else?Scoolin prints a whole school’s cards from its records. See it on a call.

How do I add photos for the whole class?

Name each photo file by the student’s admission no. or name, like 2026-0412.jpg or Aarav Sharma.jpg. Then pick all of them at once with Add photos. Each photo goes to its student, and you’re told which files didn’t match anyone.

How do I reprint one lost card?

Open the student in step 3 (the search box finds them), then in step 4 choose Only the student shown.

Do we need new cards every session?

Most schools print new ones each April, since the card shows the session. Your design, logo and signature stay saved: change the session in step 2 and paste this year’s list.

Why not make ID cards in Word or Excel?

It works for a few students. For a class, every photo has to be placed by hand and one long name can push the layout out. Here you paste the list as it is and every card comes out the same, with long names shrunk to fit.

Are my students’ details uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything you type and every photo stays in this browser, on this computer; nothing is sent to Scoolin. It is kept for the next time you open the page. Start over clears it.

    Is it really free?

Yes. No sign-up, no limit on students, and nothing of ours printed on the cards.
