Short answers on what a character certificate says and when students need one.

What is a school character certificate?

A letter from the principal saying the student studied at the school, and how they conducted themselves there. Colleges and the next school often ask for it at admission, along with the TC and the marksheet.

    What it says

Most character certificates carry the same few things.

    • The student’s name, and their father’s or guardian’s name
    • The years they studied here, and the last class
    • The exam they passed, if any
    • Their conduct, in a word or two
    • The date, the principal’s signature and the school’s seal

For a whole class at once

At the end of Class 10 or 12, paste the class list from Excel with the same headings as the sample sheet, set the years and the exam, and print every certificate in one go. Read each one before signing it.

Issuing certificates every week?In Scoolin, each student’s admission date, class, attendance and fees are already in their record, so a TC or a bonafide certificate fills itself in and prints in one click, with a register of every certificate issued.

    FAQ

    About character certificates.

Something else?Scoolin fills certificates in from its records. See it on a call.

Can I make them for the whole of Class 10 or 12?

Yes. Paste the class from Excel in step 3, then in step 4 choose Every student, one to a page. Each student’s certificate prints on its own page.

What do I write for conduct?

A word or two that fits “bears a … moral character”, like Good, Very good or Excellent.

    Can I change the wording?

Not yet. The text is the usual wording for a school character certificate, filled in with the student’s details. If your school needs different words, tell us on the contact page.

Son, daughter or ward: where do I say which?

Pick one for each student in step 3, and the certificate says “son of” or “daughter of”, and “his” or “her”. Until you pick, it writes both, like “son/daughter of”, as printed forms do. A pasted list’s Gender column is read too: M or Male is a son, F or Female a daughter.

Are the students’ details uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything you type stays in this browser, on this computer; nothing is sent to Scoolin. It is kept for the next time you open the page, and the TC, bonafide and character certificate pages share it. Start over clears it.

    Is it really free?

Yes. No sign-up, no limit on students, and nothing of ours printed on the certificate.
